Ronald Ringsrud – SPEAKERS

Ron Ringsrud is the author of the book Emeralds A Passionate Guide, a comprehensive and successful book of 23 chapters on emeralds. For 25 years he has independently imported emeralds from Colombia for the American jewelry trade. For three full years he was Director of Emerald Quality at Muzo International, the company that operates the Muzo emerald mine in Colombia.

Ron owns a home in Bogotá, Colombia and is very familiar with the region’s miners, dealers and cutting centers. Ron was a featured speaker on Colombian emeralds at GIA’s 1991 International Symposium. He also lectured at the First World Emerald Congress in Bogotá, Colombia in 1998. In 2002, Ronald was interviewed and featured in a Discovery Channel special about Colombian Emeralds and was recently on National Geographic Explorer, also about Colombian emeralds.

In 2008 he was a featured speaker at the World of Gems Conference, lecturing about Colombian Emeralds. That conference was hosted by Gemworld International and the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA). Mr Ringsrud has written articles for the prestigious Gems & Gemology magazine, published by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) where he won the award, ‘Most ValuableArticle’ in 1986. His book Emeralds a Passionate Guide, has been popular in thetrade, now translated into Italian, Russian and Spanish. He recently published an article, with Edward Boehm, Peñas Bancas A Historic Colombian Emerald Mine in the London based Journal of Gemmology.
